An eternal-spring microclimate, levadas as far as the eye can see, fortified wine and grand palaces: Madeira is the nature incentive par excellence: open all year, under four hours' flight away.
An island open all year
Out in the Atlantic, Madeira enjoys a subtropical microclimate (18 to 25 °C year-round). It’s one of the few ‘warm’ destinations in Europe between January and March, and ideal terrain from April to June and September to November.
Direct access
Several airlines fly direct Paris-Funchal (around 3h40 to 4h). In high season, direct links also run from Lyon, Nice, Brussels and Geneva.
Nature and levadas
Madeira means more than 1,600 km of levadas, irrigation channels turned hiking trails, and a UNESCO-listed laurisilva forest. Group hikes, Pico Ruivo at 1,862 m, Cabo Girão (Europe’s second-highest sea cliff): nature here is spectacular.
Madeira’s microclimate earns it the nickname ‘eternal spring’, a rare promise for a winter event.
Signature experiences
- The Monte wicker-toboggan ride, steered by two carreiros, the island’s ‘wow’ moment
- Madeira-wine tasting in a historic cellar, whale watching, 4x4 jeep safari to the peaks
